Hi, my name is Stephen Millard, and I go by the handle “sylumer” (derived from the domain where I publish online). I have dabbled in technology as a hobby since I was a chile and I have worked in IT roles my entire adult life. I love exploring the use of technology to improve lives both in my day job and in my personal time.
3D printing is a hobby interest for me and moving from an Easythreed X1 to a Bambu Lab P1S in late 2024 really opened things up for me in a big way. That move was what prompted me to start documenting some of my experience in this space. Primarily for my own use, but in addition, so that others could pick up on my thoughts, ideas, and experiences for supporting them in their own 3D printing journey. This is not a professional venture for me and my understanding is based on my own experiments, as well as watching and reading about 3D printing online - so this is somewhat coming full circle and sharing back.
If you would like to find out more about me, and other things I make and share, you can check out my personal website at thoughtasylum.com.

This site is hosted on GitHub and served via GitHub Pages. It is based on my local Obsidian vault and after trying out various options and finding limitations with all of them, I’m utilising a custom setup to process my vault into a Jekyll site running the Just The Docs theme.
You can view the Forge Repo on GitHub to get some insight into my setup, but the GitHub Pages version is what is intended for public consumption. I do not intend to spend any time covering the how or why I have gone with the setup I have. I spent weeks going down rabbit holes on issues with various options including this solution, but you are free to poke around if you are really interested in what I’ve done to get it running.
