Bigtreetech - Panda Touch

Features

  • Remote control and monitoring of one or more Bambu Lab 3D printers over WiFi.
    • Includes inbuilt battery.
  • Integration with Panda PWR power supply.

Personal Experience

  • While I only have one Bambu Lab printer I do find this an excellent device and it improves with each firmware update.
  • I have not really used it for triggering or loading print jobs - though access to the print history may change this.
  • I use it a lot for monitoring print progress, turning the LED lighting on and off, and for power control for the printer.
  • I have this on a standalone mount on my desk rather than mounted on my printer - even though both are within arm’s reach when sat at my desk. The reason is simply that the monitoring aspect is more convenient when at my desk as I am most likely looking at screens ahead of me anyway (my printer sites directly behind me on a shelf).
  • Originally set up a custom image for the print process using a special tool (I was not keen on using the default cartoon panda), but firmware updates in late Q4 2024 removed the option for this, instead the Touch now displays a thumbnail of the print job which is far more useful.
  • Screen is nice and bright - had to turn it down in fact so it was not overly bright.
  • The battery power is a relatively short term option when undocked, but the magnets (which are very strong - mind your fingers with the dock!) mean you can actually pop it quite securely on any metal surface temporarily. This is perfect if you have metal shelving like me or want to keep an eye on a print progress while you cook a quick meal for example.
    • If you find yourself doing this a lot, set the auto sleep option down to 2 mins, and lower the backlight brightness.
    • I have mine as auto sleep after 5 minutes and the backlight at 50% - I use battery infrequently, but this has been sufficient for me on such occasions.
