Description AMS feed saver with skull emblem on button

Notes

  • Print was clean and came out nice.
  • Printed them in PLA rather than PETG, but I don’t think this affected the performance.
  • A bit too “skully” a look for me, but of the ones I looked at and there are a lot of these, it looked like the cleanest end result.
  • The button would have been nicer looking if I had used a smooth rather than a texture plate (which I did not have at the time), but the rough texture probably makes it easier to use, so I would still go with the textured plate.
  • The buttons just clip into place and can be a little fiddly to get on - but that is expected if they are to stay put.
  • I used 50 mm PTFE tubes for these and they are okay, but if I replace them I’ll probably go for a little longer, maybe 60-70 mm.
  • I do think the feed in should help save the strain on the filament entry ports. I’m not using abrasive filaments in my AMS, so hopefully that will help too. Definitely going to be much cheaper to replace the PTFE tubes than those parts of the AMS.
  • It is definitely a lot nicer than using the AMS’ own buttons for filament loading. The surface area is greater and the edges not sharp.
  • Unfortunately even being a nice snug fit they still regularly come off, and I don’t think printing in PETG would have made any difference to this. In fact it seems to be that the vast majority of these sorts of protectors do this.
  • I have now replaced these with an alternative model (the Locking AMS Saver) that locks into place in a different way.
