Description A filament clip that tensions the filament against itself.

Notes

  • Cool design - feed through a tube and then lock a parallel exposed track under another loop of filament.
    • Nice grip gives plenty of control when using it.
    • Recessed guides to get the filament in through the tube.
  • This one I have mixed feelings about:
    • It is relatively quick to apply (but not the quickest).
    • The tube can feel abrasive even when pushing PLA through one printed in PLA.
    • When you get a loose filament to hook it under and then pull to tighten you have to remember to move the clip and not just pull the filament otherwise it dangles a lot.
    • The exposed track has a gentle curve to it, but I have had it bend a couple of PLA filaments and introduce the white stress marks and I’ve had to ensure I straighten it before loading it.
    • The grip on the exposed track is weak. If you nudge the handle on the clip even slightly in the opposite direction to the end of the filament, the filament loosens off. The grip of the end and that filament loop remain secure, but other loops then start to drift away from the spool - which can get caught if you are scrabbling through a box of filament like I’m wont to do.
  • I’m using this with some of my non-Bambu Lab spools as it does have the benefit of not being sized for any specific style or width of spool - it works purely with the filament; like I said, cool design.
