Notes
- For including magnets in bases, these should be 6mm diameter and 2mm thick.
- My personal convention is that for Gridfinity, magnets will always be pointing north up.
- A base plate would have the magnet’s south pole glued to it and north would point up.
- A Gridfinity item would have the magnet’s north pole glued to it and south would point down.
- The northern exposed magnet in the base plate would attract the southern exposed magnet in the Gridfinity item.
- My personal convention is that for Gridfinity, magnets will always be pointing north up.
- PLA is sufficient for all my Gridfinity prints to date.
- The Gridfinity system works really nicely and is extensive, but unless you are using drawers to hold the Gridfinity items, magnets seem to be a critical factor for base stability - particularly for taller items. I find these do tilt a little easily even when they are not the outermost items.
- I need to go back and add a lot more magnets to some of my Gridfinity things on my shelves.
