Description | A Multiboard regular tile generator for OpenSCAD |
Notes
- This creates Multiboard tile models, and you can use it via OpenSCAD.
- Results are excellent - I have had no issue with the results.
- You can only create regular rectangular arrangements unlike the Multiboard tile generator, a Blender-based tile generator for those with a Multiboard membership That can generate non-rectangular arrangements to cover irregular layout constraints. I’ve been able to work around this with combinations of big and small tiles, but in some instances, something like this becomes necessary if you don’t want to add as many mounting points.
- You should ensure that these are printed with 3 walls rather than the usual default of 2. They need the extra strength and this is covered in the Multiboard information.
- There is also a forked version that supports the generation of stacked tiles.
- Stacked tiles have one side that is rougher and less well printed than the other due to the stacking process. As a result you will probably only want to use these for wall mount tiles rather than free standing dual-side use tiles.
- I have tried this out and it works fine. You have to pull firmly to separate the tiles. However, I don’t think I will end up using it often, if at all. I simply have a preference for good quality on both sides as far as possible just in case I ever do want to re-use any tiles and use them dual-sided. Unlikely, but I am happy to sacrifice a bit of extra time to satisfy whatever fragment of OCD in me seems to prefer it.
Use 3 perimeter wall thickness, 0.2 mm layer height, 15% infill, and no supports.
