Description | A customisable simple shelving or riser unit for your desk. |
Notes
- This turned out really well as I originally used it to create a little shelving unit for my FocusRite Scarlett Solo audio interface. The interface has connections on the front and back, but I needed to run the front connections backwards. To do this I decided I would create a bespoke unit that would raise the interface off my desk and allow me to drop the connections down and back underneath the unit. The solution was a frame with an internal shelf.
- Shortly after I had a need to lift my Mac Studio as where I wanted to place it was too narrow for the Mac to sit, due to bars either side. Using a low riser (same idea as the shelving unit but with no base or shelf) solved it quickly.
- Using this model you can build a simple riser (sides and top), with options to add a bottom, an interior shelf, and a back panel.
- The model is OpenSCAD-based, so you can specify your own parameters to customise it to your own specifications. As well as the option parts noted above and the obvious dimensions, you can modify thicknesses (shelf, back, and other walls), and also the curvature of the edges, which I would recommend experimenting with as you can get some rather stylish curve options that might look as at home in your living room as your desk.
